As a medieval palace, the Sintra National Palace presents challenges for visitors with reduced mobility. However, efforts have been made to make parts of the experience accessible. Mobility Access

The main entrance has several flights of stairs. Wheelchair users are advised to use an alternative entrance via the palace kitchen. From there, ramps can be put in place to provide access to the ground floor rooms, including the Manueline Room, Archers' Room, and the magnificent Swan Room. Due to numerous steps, the upper floors of the palace are not accessible to wheelchair users.

Equipment and Assistance

The palace can provide manual wheelchairs and special traction equipment to help navigate the sloped and cobbled surfaces outside. It is essential to reserve this equipment in advance by contacting Parques de Sintra. Staff have received basic training in Portuguese Sign Language.

Accessible toilets are available on-site. Visitors with disabilities are eligible for free entry, as is one companion. Please present valid documentation at the ticket office.
